
Gilda Brasch
A storyteller whose work lights a spark with viewers. As a producer/director, Gilda led the creative for Oprah Winfrey’s ABC primetime special, Building A Dream, the acclaimed documentary on The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa.
Most recently Gilda served as showrunner on five seasons, almost one hundred episodes, of VH1’s hit franchise Love & Hip Hop. Additional credits include developing and producing Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals for OWN (the series is now streaming on Discovery+), The American Experience for PBS, and Nightline for ABC News.
Gilda began her career as a journalist, reporting and producing for American Public Radio, the Christian Science Monitor, as well as covering re-carpet events for NBC’s Extra. She then went on to sharpen her skills in screenwriting at UCLA.
In building VUSI’s development slate and strategy, Gilda has focused on partnering with and acquiring story rights from modern-day SHEroes whose real-life challenges and subsequent triumphs moved mountains.
Gilda volunteers on a Peer Group Executive Committee of the Television Academy/Emmy Awards and produces their streaming One On One events. She served for 9 years on the board of the International Documentary Association, and is a joyous puppy raiser with Guide Dogs For The Blind.
